Porvenir ~ Future Teachers
$1,000 Scholarship

The award winner must be a graduating senior in the class of 2020, and pursuing a teaching degree. 

Essay: Tell us why you are proud of your Mexican-American culture and how you will share this with and encourage your students to be proud of theirs.
The Porvenir scholarships are awarded through the RSEPSF in collaboration with descendants of Porvenir ~ Arlinda & Ysrael Valencia and the Van Matre family, both residing in El Paso.

Class of 2020 scholarships are given in the names of:
Longino Flores, Roman Nieves & Dora Bitolas, State Representative Jose Tomás Canales, and Harry Warren, Porvenir School Teacher


The Rural Schools Education Program & Scholarship Foundation (RSEPSF) facilitates The Mentorship Program (TMP) for each year's graduating senior class. TMP facilitates leadership conferences, develops competitive college portfolios, awards scholarships, and more.

RSEPSF welcomes all students, families, community members, and organizations, regardless of income, ​political views, religious affiliations, and/or backgrounds. ​RSEPSF welcomes humans of all ages, races, physical abilities, sexual preferences, ​gender expressions, and gender identities.

The Mentorship Program / RSEPSF is a 501(c)3.
