I am Josie F. Davis, born Josie Felicia Brown in Augusta, Ga. on 17 Nov 1971. My parents never married and I was raised by my grandparents until the age of 5. Once my grandfather passed, I then went to live with my mother and her now ex-husband until I was 10 years old when I returned to live with my grandmother.
I am the eldest of 2 sisters from my father plus 1 sister and 1 brother from my mother. I am recently married. We have 2 sons, 2 daughters, and custody of my 8-year-old niece. We have two 1/2 grandchildren - a 4 year old. 2 year old, and one on the way. Also, my mother resides with us, I have one big family, which I love to death.
I am active duty Army (SFC/E-7) with 26 years in Service and 23 years of active duty. I am an 88M which is a Motor Transportation Operator by trade. I have many jobs in the Army. I currently serve as Master Reliance and Sexual Harassment Response Coordinator. These positions are near to my heart.
I am currently in transition of retiring. I have been stationed in many places such as Deagu (Korea), Ft. Bliss (Texas), Ramstein (Germany), Darmstadt (Germany), and Ft. Carson (Colorado). I have been deployed to Kuwait, Somalia, Africa, and Iraq. I have no regrets about my military career.
My major accomplishments were completing 20 + years in the military, being an active and productive member of my sorority Kappa Eplison Psi (KEY) Military, Inc., and completing my Bachelors’ degree with a major in criminal justice. My greatest accomplishment of all, which I asked God for, was to raise my children to be self-sufficient and productive adults. I accomplished this as a single parent while in the military.
My hobbies are reading, watching my favorite television shows, and helping people. I love listening to the Blues and R&B: James Brown, Johnnie Taylor, and Tyrone Davis - to name a few. I do own a guitar that I would love to play one day. I am thinking about taking up sewing, I even bought a crochet kit - as they both seem very relaxing.
My current goal is to attend Webster University to obtain my Masters’ degree in mental health counseling and serve my community by assisting those in need.
The last thing about me, but the first thing in my life, is the love that I have for the Lord. I believe loving him puts everything in perspective.
