ELIZABETH SAENZ is currently serving as Deputy Superintendent of Academics and School Leadership for the El Paso Independent School District. 

Saenz is a longtime Texas public-school educator with over 25 years of service to children across Texas. She became a teacher and school leader to pursue her dream of improving educational outcomes for all children, but especially for kids from disadvantaged backgrounds.

In her role as a Latina leader in the educational field, she actively mentors other Latina women into leadership positions. She has served in statewide and regional leadership roles for University Interscholastic League, Texas Association of Latino Administrators & Superintendents, Texas Association of School Administrators, Texas Association of Mid-Size Districts, Equity Center, and volunteered in various community organizations. 



Saenz has a bachelor of arts with a major in English and master’s degree in educational administration, both from Sul Ross State University. She has also completed all coursework toward a doctorate degree in education from the University of Texas at Austin.


Saenz has been married to her high school sweetheart, Gabriel, for 30 years and has two daughters, Emily and Lizzy, and a son, Gabriel. She enjoys reading, traveling, photography, cooking and spending time with family, especially with her new grand-baby, Libby.
