Dear 2019 Senior,
First of all, congratulations on becoming a Senior and having the commitment to see your dreams come true.
I retired from education June 2017 after 42 years in education. I retired as Superintendent of Schools in San Elizario ISD where I was blessed to work for 17 years.
One of the highlight of my career was to be named 2017 and Superintendent of the Year for Refion 19. I was also honored to be named on of five Finalist for Texas Superintendent of the Year.
I also worked in El Paso ISD for 25 years prior to working in San Elizario ISD. I began my career as a special education and bilingual teacher. I was also an assistant
principal, principal, Director of Elementary Personnel, Staff Developer, and Assistant Superintendent.
After retirement I have been busy serving on three community service boards as well as a monitor for Dell City ISD.
In 2017 I was honored by UTEP as a Gold Nugget. Although awards and recognition are nice, making a difference in someone's life is much more important.
I have been blessed to work with many wonderful students with whom I still have strong relationships with.
Having a mentor is such an important role and I know that you will benefit from mentorship as you begin your career.
Best wishes for a successful Senior year.
