Paulina Lopez was born in El Paso and raised in Chihuahua City, Mexico. She came back to pursue her undergraduate degree at the University of Texas at El Paso, where she studied Organizational and Corporate Communication with a Minor in Political Science.
As an involved student, Paulina was awarded the opportunity to conduct research on environmental policy in Indonesia, was elected to serve as student body president during the university’s centennial, and graduated as one of UTEP’s Top Ten Seniors. After graduation, Paulina has been active in the public and nonprofit sectors and has worked for Congressman O’Rourke’s reelection campaign in 2014, served as Director of Constituent Services and Binational Affairs for State Senator Jose Rodriguez, as well as Director of Advocacy for the Greater El Paso Chamber of Commerce, and was recently hired by the U.S. Census Bureau as a Partnership Specialist for the 2020 Census.
Paulina is passionate about the El Paso community and is currently serving as board member of the YWCA El Paso del Norte Region and the Women’s Fund of El Paso. She has also been part of the TEDx El Paso planning committee for the last five years. In 2016, Paulina earned a Master’s degree in Public Administration with a concentration in Public Policy and Management from the University of Texas at El Paso.
